“Trio Zéphyr bewitches me and these three artists, with their strings and their voices, contribute to a wonderful album, a musical travel diary” (Piers Faccini)
Fruit of the fusion of three musicians, their voices and their strings, Trio Zéphir has been wavering among cultures and sound territories for more than a decade. Nourished by world music but also classical music and jazz, the Trio is exploring new sensitive areas, those that erase the instrumentalist for the benefit of a music full of raw emotion.
Together Delphine Chomel (violin), Marion Diaques (alto) and Claire Menguy (cello) compose a music which goes far beyond the boundaries of a classical Trio. For this new album they have chosen to find their inspiration in their favorite field : the theme of travelling by train and its consecutive poetic dreaming world.
The three travelers have composed their album the way we insert drawings and words in a travel diary, deploying their music around their dearest themes: time that flies by in ‘I saw the time’, the time of a magnificent collaboration with Piers Faccini, the search or an inner peace (Refuge, composed in Aleppo during a trip to Syria in 2009), the expression of a long looked for freedom (Galop-métrie, Kourgane…) or also poetic introspection (Garden under the moon, Hill).
Dear to the Trio’s heart the train theme comes up to the top with this succession of repetitive staccatos galloping forward and meditative contrapuntal melodies. On travelling the musicians explore the boundaries of their trio, look for unknown, forgotten or unsuspected stories and landscapes in their universe, remaining faithful to this delicacy coming from their complicity.
Just like in their previous albums made in La Buissonne, we can find the vital pulse that puts the listener on the edge of a vast world in a necessary state of solace. The key to this so particular sound: the complicity with Gérard de Haro, the sound engineer, artistic manager and director of La Buissonne, who, masterly and majestically, develops their music.
