The time of the trio always comes back in a ritual and cyclical way. Very few musical ideas or colors resist this shape.
Como as Flores, meaning Like flowers in Portuguese, is my fourth immersion in this exciting alchemy.
After my begginings with a classic jazz trio, with the Moutin brothers, fresh out of my musical studies, another trio called Sœurs de sang emerged made up of Jacques Mahieux and Jean-Philippe Viret. Then came the trio Ruffle swing which illustrated a current way of playing the eternal and magical Piano – Double bass – drums, next to François Merville and Henning Sieverts.
For Como as Flores, I am inviting Brasilian percussionist Ze Luis Nascimento who, halfway between drums and digital percussion, will bring this essential touch to my music today. I also invite double bass player Claude Tchamitchian because of his transversal sense of music in current jazz.
A sensible and poetic music supported by small immutable dances and beautiful beaches of rythmic trances.
