description The idea was to create a musical tribute to two of the major figures in European poetry – Novalis and Rainer Maria Rilke – so finding the right blend of talents to make the essence of the lyrics sing out (in every sense of the term) was imperative.
Christophe Cholet has done just this by calling on his loyal fellow-musicians Marcel Papaux and Heiri Känzig, actress-singer Elise Caron and the Arsys Choir from Burgundy. An unconventional sound mix requiring rigorous work on the composition and arrangements to give the result its full dimension.
This ambitious project was first performed on a concert tour, where the group took advantage of their travels and the closeness they had all acquired to stop at La Buissonne Studios and record it too.
Hymne à la nuit/ Hymn to the Night is now available as an album. As a work that defies all classification, it will appeal to lovers of good literature as well as song-lovers or those who like the piano trio, and above all, those who appreciate refinement and sophistication of composition.
